Celebrating “Fet Gede” The Season to celebrate the Ancestors with Rick Bausman and Val Jeanty
Rick is the founder and director of the Milokan Cultural Center here on Martha’s Vineyard and in Les Cayes, Haiti.

Val Jeanty is a Haitian electronic music composer, turntablist and a professor at Berkee College of Music. In addition, she is a Mando, which is the female member of the Haitian Vodou clergy.

November is “Fet Gede”, the season to celebrate the ancestors. It coincides with All Saints Day, Day of the Dead and Halloween. Today’s service will explore how ancestors are perceived in Vodou and the importance of the presence of ancestors in the Vodou family
